Everybody knows the best way to kick off summer vacation is a road trip with your friends and family. The songs, the view, and the cheesy road trip games are a great way to spend time together.
Here’s a tip for the beginners, who are ready to embark on their first road trip. Road trips are meant to be very spontaneous, however it’s a good idea to plan parts of it before hitting the road. One way is to go online and check for hotel deals and compare a few hotels that are on drive. This is because most of the motels you randomly stop by at are usually unhygienic or out of your price range.
In order to start off your great summer, here are top five scenic drives you should definitely go on with your friends or family.
- Florida Keys
Highway 1 is a 113 miles drive that stretches over coral reefs and is also known as the Overseas Highway. The road is surrounded by water; the Atlantic on the left and the Gulf on the right. Not only is the highway filled with gift shops and diners where the shakes and fries are to die for, it’s famous for having Key Largo, the diving capital of the world. Check out online hotel deals and find out deals of the various diving resorts on the long drive and add some activities to your road trip.
- Blue Ridge Parkway
Located in North Carolina and Virginia, the Blue Ridge Parkway highway stretches 500 miles through the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Great Smoky Mountains. The drive has a magnificent view of the Smoky Mountains that is almost blue in color and adds a magical aspect to the ride. This blue fog is the reason behind its name Shaconage (The Land of The Blue).
- Pacific Coast Highway
The road that passes by the coastline of California stretches over 123 miles. Although it has a lot of traffic during the months of July and August, driving through the long roads in the other months is very peaceful. The best part of the highway is that there are so many places to stop by for a while and you can really soak in the beauty of the cliffs and the coastline. Not only does the coastline of the place attract you but the road also passes through Big Sur (A Redwood Forest) and Sonoma County (a renowned wine county).
- Lake Shore Drive
The country’s most beautiful architectural road only stretches 26 miles in Chicago but the view is no less stunning. Unlike the previous drives, while the natural beauty of the road is there, the drive is mostly to see the architecture. The beautifully designed and constructed buildings that encompass Chicago from Sears Tower (the tallest building in the world) to Belle Époque elegance of Burnham and Root’s Rookery are seen down the road.
- Route 12 Utah
The road that is quite in the middle of nowhere and with only a few directions, you will need to heavily depend upon a map. However, since the road is situated with only a few towns and entry points, you’re left mostly alone. With only the beautiful orangey cliffs of Utah and a long and peaceful road you can truly focus and spend some great time with your friends and family.
Although these five drives are out of hundreds of beautiful roads to take a road trip across America, check online for some beautiful roads near you and hit the road this summer with your friends and family.
